FG disowns November resumption

President Muhammadu Buhari recently announced that the lockdown and other restrictions imposed as a result of the pandemic will be reviewed in line with the recommendations by health experts.

However, Federal Ministry of Education has said it is looking for the author of the fake statement which said primary and secondary schools will resume by November 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The social media post claims a press release signed by “Adamu Mallam” on behalf of the Ministry of Education and dated April 21, indicates that the schools will be resuming by November.

On this note, the federal government has disowned the viral media post.
The Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Goog, urged Nigerians to disregard the fake news, saying that the author was believed to be mentally unstable.

“The ministry is asking parents, students and the general public to disregard the release in its entirety, adding that there is no iota of truth about the release. Efforts are on to track the author, and he or she will be prosecuted.
“We could have ignored the release but the massive calls from stakeholders expressing concerns.”
